Since 2012, ESITC Paris has offered a work-study engineering program through apprenticeship contracts, exclusively during the engineering cycle. This program, fully funded by the host company, combines rigorous academic instruction with immersive professional experience. It aims to train versatile engineers capable of managing construction projects and supporting roles in technical design offices.
⎢Unique Alternation Structure
ESITC Paris has developed a distinctive apprenticeship model, alternating between 4 to 8 weeks of academic courses and 4 to 8 weeks of company placement. This structure enables apprentice students to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, with continuous training in management and corporate immersion.
The three-year apprenticeship contract can be established with various construction companies, including major firms, SMEs, and mid-sized enterprises, provided they cover the program's defined topics. The apprentice's specialization—either Sustainable Building or Roads, Civil Engineering Structures & Regional Planning—is determined by the host company's field.
⎢Progressive Program Structure
The apprenticeship curriculum spans the entire engineering cycle over 36 months, divided into 17 periods : 8 academic sessions (including one international) and 9 company periods :
□ Academic Periods
Each year includes:
- Two or three Teaching Units (UE) in sciences and technologies
- A UE in expression and communication (French, English, second language)
- A UE emphasizing experience gained during alternation or covering management, business administration, or law
The first two years feature modules and projects shared with engineering students in the traditional student status program. The curriculum also includes an international period at a partner university. In the final year, apprentices and traditional students unite for the last academic semester, which includes technical courses and the Final Cross-Disciplinary Project.
Continuous assessment validates learning through assignments, practical work, and group projects. Progression to the next year requires meeting minimum grade thresholds.
□ Company Placements
During company placements, each apprentice is supervised by a Training Supervisor and, depending on the topic, a company tutor. Topics include :
- Project management
- Management of subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers
- Business management
- Design office tasks (technical, methods, costing, etc.)
- Worksite management
- Final Year Project (TFE)
Three unscheduled periods are distributed over the three years, typically during summer. Supervision includes on-site meetings, written reports, and oral presentations.
⎢Admissions and Eligibility
Admission is available for candidates with a Bac+2/3 in civil engineering.
⎢Important Information for International Applicants
International candidates must have resided in France for at least one year to be eligible for the apprenticeship program. Additionally, a minimum B2 level in French is required to undertake this curriculum.
| Multi-Campus School
In September 2022, ESITC Paris expanded its offerings by opening a new site in Égletons, complementing and strengthening existing programs. The curriculum mirrors that of the Arcueil campus, addressing the growing demand for qualified engineers in the construction sector.
